Newbie tire size question

Well here it is my first posting, and I just want to say that I have learned a lot reading this forum but I can't find the answer to my question. I recently purchased a 97 GSX, the supension is un altered and it has 17x8 wheels with a 30mm offset. Currently its running 225/45R17 tires. I would like to run something closer to the original diameter so would there be any clearance issues with 235/45R17 tires. Thanks in advance for the help.

A 235/45 is a great sized tire for a 17x8 on a 2g. The problem is the offset of your wheels is too low to provide much hope, if any, of tucking them. You will not rub the upper control arm in the rear, that is for sure, however, you will be rubbing on the rear fender lip, and probably rubbing the front fenders as well on bigger bumps. The only way to fix this is to go with different wheels that have a higher offset, like +40mm

Let us know how things work out.
