type s bov discontinued?

NOTE: This item is being discontinued from Greddy and is being replaced with the new Type RS. Once we run out of stock on the Type S they will no longer be available!

from slowboyracing.com i was trying to buy a bov and this shit came out, WHAT THE FUCK! Anyone have any reviews on the RS?

I havent heard anything bad about the RS yet. For my car's setup I have a HKS SSQV.

Supposedly it holds more boost consistently and has a blue cap instead of a purple one...it sounds like a stock BOV vented if you ask me...

that = WEAK

BOV's are all about function, not sound. The RS holds boost just as well as the Type S but has a blue top instead of purple. There will ALWAYS be Type S' for sale used so don't worry, if you want one you can find it. But either work well. Check out the Blitz BOV and the Tial BOV too if you want a clean sounding and good working unit that is a little less popular (tial).

With the RS you have to buy a recirculation kit also (if you want to recirculate into your intake that is) just thought id try to give a contribution after all the info I've received

I DO NOT LIKE IT AT ALL. It sounds like 4-5 different BOV's put into once sequence. Instead of the steady sexy pppttsssss you get a nasty psshtssshhtss. Not for me. How could they discontinue the type S that thing is in like 75%+ of Turbo Eclispe Owners rides. Thats BS. I dont have my Eclipse yet so i guess i have to pick one of those suckers up somewhere. SHYT

The HKS SSQV is such a hilarious gimmick. Over $300 for a BOV? You guys are dumb sometimes.

\:D/ =D> By far the worst BOV I have ever seen. In the 4 years that I have had my shop I have seen the GREDDY Type-S be the root of more boost problems that any other problem. The 1G is a far superior BOV, and the RS has bee flawless so far.

How many situations total in the 4 years. I have never heard anything negative about it, nor have i read it. My buddy has had his for a long ass time now and he hasnt have a problem either. If it is so bad how come a large majority of turbo DSMs have the BOV. Don't think they heard that either. If so why would they buy it? Just my 2 Centz...

They buy it because of the same reason you would buy it. They saw it on a car they liked or "HKS" makes you wet or you liked the chirp sound. There are just as many people who refuse to use it because it isn't that great and is vastly overpriced and don't like HKS being price nazi's just to take you kids' money.

I've had my type S for 2 years +...the only time I had a problem with it was after installing the UICP I forgot to tighten the nut around the screw causing my baby to misfire/bog...that problem was user error though, not the BOV fault
