I thought this is a sticky about intercooler setups, not about whether a FMIC is better than a SMIC.

Cool My setup

98 Talon tsi, Evo III 16G, Brode uic and maf to turbo pipes. Currently the alamo sidemount. (which would be awesome with the 16G, but it has a leak in the core.)

Just purchased an Extreme Turbo Systems (http://www.extremeintercoolers.com/2g_7_kits.htm) FMIC setup designed to fit between the fog lamps. The core is 20" X 7" X 3".

The welds and overall kit is very well made, complete with T-bar clamps couplers and piping that retains both fans unlike some kits that require you to remove the ac fan.

The replacement Alamo sidemount was 700 bux, this kit was 700 bux. So I opted for the front mount.

I'm running my own design built by macs radiator in portland ore. it's an 28x9.5x3.5 tube and fin but flows like a bar and plate. all piping is 2.5" mandel bends that I wire fed together w/ 3" gm sensor and rre throttle flange. total cost of set up was only around 600 bucks and I was able to make it all fit with little trimming. The turbo strapped to this is the SBR-13 on a stock 99 gsx 7 bolt. Made a few runs last year but kept breaking trannies. Now I'm running 4 spyder and sheps kryo rails and shot peened sliders and it seems to stay together, for now. Best time was 12.6 @117 mph. Took it to torque freaks in portland and it dynoed at 360 hp and 343 torque at 20 psi. I thought it had more left but now I'll never know cuz I'm now finishing the 2.4 6 bolt swap built by nick drake at pina motor sports. This is his personal motor and it ran a 11.1@134 in his first gen. I guess this is a my introduction to your group. The name here is jeff and I enjoy meeting and showing at all the nwdsm get togethers. Still just a noob in this world of dsm's and love to hear everyone's ideas. Ive done a few swaps such as the recent postings of the other awd spyder with the 20 g. It's in my shop now being fitted with all the goodies for 11 sec runs. He's looking at huge gains this next season and I cant wait to drive for him for dsm link tuning. Enough about me we'll all get to know more as time passes. Merry x-mas. drive fast but safe

I run a PTE 57 Trim and clip off 12's with a Super Sidemount. It doesnt mean mean it's the best but it has the sleeper look that makes it work great. It depends on the cooling needs of your turbo.
