could you actually put a turbo in the back of your car???
has anyone done this with a eclipse??would you really not have to worry about a manifold??

What do you mean, "behind"?

Are you talking about a piggy back turbo, or an axle turbo?

Yes you can do that, you don't have to worry about a turbo manifold really... you still need the wastegate and the oil lines and all that tho... I have heard of people doing it with other vehicles and needing an electric oil pump, to return the oil back into the oil pan...

There would really be no use for an intercooler, being that the exhaust would be cool enough by the time it made its way back into the intake manifold...

However, I have never seen this done on a DSM yet...

I remember seeing a thread a while ago about these. The turbo is near the end of the exhaust and it had to travel all the way to the motor, seems like a lot of extra piping for no reason, and if you car is lowered you can smash the turbo. Not a good idea IMO, just stick with the proven methods.

This works on large displacement engines. v8's mostly, I dont think it would be very efficient.

Popular on 99-up camaro's too. No intercololer needed. A company actually sells IC piping with heatsink fins on it so the piping itself helps cool the air charge on its way up to the engine. Can it be done? Yes. Best solution, not really. This is useful for cars that have shoehorned a HUGE motor in a small engine compartment and can't fit it any other way.
