Dont you guys notice that the ones "on favor" of this threads are new, or relatively new people to the boards? you guys have to understand something. We are dealing with cars that are anywhere from 9 to 18 years old. This means that this kinds of questions are no "new science" for us. In fact, it is at some point annoying because we have answered this question literally hundreds of times, and just because somebody doesn't want to spend 5 minutes reading, we have to shut up and answer their question... You are right, we are here to help. But don't make us work double just cause you just got here and you don't wanna research like most of us have done already... Hell I don't even expect this kinds of questions for my community (2008+ lancer) cause even tho its a relatively new market, engine, mods, almost all has been discussed already.... the search button is a gift of God.... Use it.

So yea, I still beg to differ...

you gotta take into consideration the maintenance and the amount of common sense that people apply when building a kit. A lot of people don't even care about the maintenance and start boosting the cars when they need a lot or TLC to be able to handle boost. At this point is where a $500 kit will become a $4000 ordeal.

Let me clear up anything that i may have started, first of all i was trying to do was give this guy advice and some of the things that i have found and seen that mabe not everyonr has, Keep in mind just because you havent seen or heard of something doesnt mean it is'nt possible. So, i love all DSM no matter what the engine or model. Everyone here feels the same i hope. So in my opinion we are all one in the same weather your turbo or n/a or weather you make 70k a year or 7k a year. So i appologize to anyone i offended or upset. Just do me a favor and don't jump my a** because you dont agree with something i say. My opinions and my information are put up here as i have seen it and the experiences i have had, so dont knock it please. Thanks people.

If you had facts instead of your opinion, I don't think people would be knocking you. There is me and 3 other people on here that either have or had boosted 420a's, and nobody seems to agree with you. So show us some facts to back up what you are saying and people will not knock you as much. We are all entitled to our opinions, but when somebody is asking for advice, give them the facts, not a misguided opinion.

I wouldn't even waste your time Jamie. I don't think anybody with a shred of common sense would use this thread for any sort of techinical info.

Ok, finally read this thread. Ktumlin, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your opinion on the integrity of the 420A vs. the 4G63 is quite skewed. The 420A is definitely a 'promising' design but it was not designed to withstand immense amounts of power that the 4G63 is capable of. Any engine can crankwalk....ANY. Yes there are cases of CW on the 420A, search 2gnt.com and you'll find 'em. The 420A has a very solid bedplate design which makes it far less likely though. Dollar for dollar, the 4G63 kills the 420A. Any engine can be blueprinted and built for great performance but the 4G63 needs tweaks while the 420A needs a makeover.
Moving on....to the OP, search man. There are some REALLY awesome threads buried in this forum regarding a lot of turbo 420A stuff. You got flack from everyone only becuase it was a noob thread, not because we hate ya
Turbo'ing a bone stock 420A is fine if you are happy with around 250-275hp (at the crank, not at the wheels). My recommendation is better timing and fuel control. Everything else is a bolt-on affair and is very simple. I suggest either the new AEM fuel/ignition controller or a megasquirt stand-alone ECU. In my opinion, save up for one of those FIRST, then piece together a nice little turbo kit. What kills a stock engine thats been turbo'd is usually poor timing control. Don't use a S-AFC as I've found that it actually can force your timing to advance MORE when you try to lean out the fuel (I'll start a thread explaining this more thoroughly when I have time).
Get along, stay on topic and the thread lives another day.
P.S. A stock long block/turbo'd 420A can be faster than a stock 5 speed GSX if done correctly. Ask me how I know

Wow, that moderator clean house with that post lol. I have the same plans as this guy. When i first looked at the thread i wanted to see where'd it go cause im trying to learn before i ask too many question and get on peoples nerves. I've heard alot of my buddies go about putting a turbo kit peice by peice.
1 question though....are there and injectors from other year eclipse's that would be a upgrade from the stock 420a ones? Any ive heard a lil about adding a resistor box too. can anyone clarify?
