420a turbo
ok i have turboed my 420a motor. ok first of all i am runing a stock 91 gsx turbo and stock intercooler. ok i have completly rebuilt my 420a motor with all stock internals. everything i put back were oem.
ok now question 1 on the spark plug gapin.
seein i have change the injectiors and fuel pump.
what is the gap size i should put?
or do i leave it the same as oem speck?
question 2, seen i have already built the 420a motor back to oem,
what is recomended lbs for daliy drive?
and whats the max lbs can a 420a motor run without hurting it?
last question. seen its stock motor hasn't got any miles on it yet. what weight of oil should i run?
remember its a stock 420a motor turboed.
thank you for reading this
your helpful info would be much apprecated

Dont know why you would do a rebuild with weak stock internals but with OEM internals I would set boost to 5 psi and I wouldnt go over that. People say that you can go to 8 but my motor blew at 8 psi spark plug gap will remain the same as stock and 5W30 until 60-75k miles then use 10w30.

Why didn't you find out the answers to all those questions BEFORE you did the build?

Exactly, also why didn't you just go the whole 9 yards, and build it with forged internals?

well seein only one person actualy answered my question, i thank you for the
helpful info. its much helpful
ok now for the other two who just asked why i put stock internals.
its cus its a compention i am havent with 3 of my friends.
well all have 2ge and were all are turboing our 420a with stock internals.
the point of our compenition is who can built the faster car with stock internals.
loser give there car over to the winner.
and we have both all agreeded to this. so this is why i put all stock internals.
its a part of the rule of you lil compentation.
if they break any of the rules they will automaticaly loes and there car will automatcatly goes to the winner with the other losers car.
and just to make sure no one cheats, i the host of the compention have personaly orded all the stock internals for all of there car and gave it to them.
so its a level playing field. now for the turbo and other stuff its all up to them to choose that they want on there car.
i hope this info explain why i put back all stock internals.
but thank you for you info and inputs on this subject.

I would have gone with something bigger than a stock 1g turbo if you are competing with people.
Get a colder set of plugs and gap them to .28
BKR-7ES plugs are what I always used.

I actually never said anything about you running stock internals. I'm mostly confused as to why you don't know what psi you will be running, plug gap, or oil. I'm mostly just suprised at your lack of foresight. I would just simply expect one to have all the details mapped out when they building a car.

You don't need to be turboing a 420a if you don't know these basics.

wow i didnt know just askin some questions would cause people to leave hateful remarks
i am sorry i am not as knoledgle about these 420a motors like other people.
thats why i am aking you guys the knowelage one these question, cus i dont know much about turboing a 420a.
all i know pretty much know is how to rebuilding to stock speck.
o and for the person who said why i chose the small turbo?
its cus we will have different kind of races. and they will all be right after the next. so the cars will be taking some punnishment.
stage 1. drag
stage 2. curcuit
stage 3. time (kinda like time attact)
stage 4. mountain run
stage 5. cross counrty(race form city to city)(about a 5 hour non stop race)
so if your like running big turbos odds are you will not cool down fast enough
to parcipate in the next race. so yea might win some and lose some, or just blow up. lol
so i thing i might have the adantage cus with a small turbo it builds up lbs faster and it will cool down faster for the long runs. thats where i think i might have a advantage. lol
good question thou.
o and before i forget there is a money limit in how much money you are allowed to spend. lol
but thanks also for the info. i think i will take your advise on that thanks.

Wow, If you and your friends just have 3 cars tht your willing to basically throw away, then by all means please take video of this event. That way when 3 sexy 2g dsms get destroyed you and your friends have a reminder of why you do things right the first time. Also, do you plan on street racing? Because where I live thats illegal.

Exactly the problem. You should know this motor in and out if you plan to turbo it. 2gnt.com is your friend as are bassman's several threads about turboing the 420a.

i tryed to upload some pic but it wount allow me too. something about it bein too big of a pic or somthing.
and yes its all going to be street races.
i have every thing planed out on where we will have each races.
and where i live (tn) there not alot to do, so i made this compention to have soemthign to do instead of being borded. there lots of places to do any kind of races you want here in tn.
especilaly the mountain runs. there the most famous around where i live.
we all love to races up the mountains at night over here.
and if we can get a good enough camera to record all this event i wil gadly post it so you guys can see it.
last time the camers person almost fell out of a car and she droped the camera recoding everything. we will still try to recoded it again.
ok now we do this kind of thing every year with different cars.
last years car was a 90 supra.
i blowed my motor making my last run up the mountain and ran off the road. lol hope i win this year. lol
so i dont realy care about how this motor workin in and out. i just wana run it and see if i can win this year compention.
next years car will be a 97 subaru impreza. but next years will be no limit on the cars!
but anyways back to the point. thanks for all the info and in puts on this subject you guys.
thanks

I hope you get arrested, your car impounded, and your license revoked. That or you crash into a tree before you crash into a car full of innocent people. Take it to the track.
