1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS

I want to turbocharge my 420A but I was told that I am going to have to tune my ECU. Is that true and do I have to change anything that i might not be able to do myself?

I believe so because the ecu will not compensate for the turbo otherwise, dont hold me to that, but I'm pretty sure that's the case
