Tial 38mm external gate is your best choice. Quality is top notch and the price is affordable. Go for it!

Sweet pic and good luck with the Holset. I keep seeing mixed reviews on the turbo so I wish you the best. What wastegate did you go with?

Argh, shit :? When I said "mixed reviews" all the negative reviews were about how utterly crappy the internal gate is on the Holset turbos but that the wheels and everything are fine. So when I saw you were asking about external gates then I thought you were okay. Gotta do your homework. I went to DSMtuners and veteran members running this turbo HATE the internal gate and it led to super slow spool and creep problems. Here is just one of the many I found:
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/show...&highlight=PTE

If I were you, I'd weld the internal shut and get the Tial you were looking at.

Well I wouldn't say 9 out of 10, some of the guys are people I know have experience with various setups.

^^^That makes no sense. If it has problems at higher psi, what do you think 30psi is? That will grenade your motor.

My friend Tim is running 11.8's with the HX45 here in H-Town. I told yall it was bad ass. 438whp in a 90 GSX :thumb: The stock internal WG's are shit though. So go external.

well when bullseye says it cabable of 40+psi., i dont consider 30psi to be on the higher end

for now im gonna stick with the internal gate. my freind bought it and used it on his lazer and it worked fine at 35psi. when i get later in my build if i have the $$ ill go external, otherwise im gonna wait till next summer to switch it

Capable of 40psi is fine, but if you think you are going to run 30psi on your 4cylinder DSM without a rediculous amount of forged internals you are sorely mistaken. Not to mention you would need to be running 114 octane all day to do it.

anyone who thinks 30 psi is LOW boost is either seriously jaded or seriously misinformed

and anyone who believes bulleye (as in bang! another sucker) over NABR people like Grocman deserves what they get.

Holset makes some sick turbo's, and should not be taken lightly.

Agreed, it's jsut bullseye that has given them a black eye, it's not the turbos themselves...

and of course the fact that they don't fit near as well on a 1g as on a 2g.

umm yeah 114 octane  . im seeing that. im gonna do it on the same gas its always gotten, 93 octane from mobil.

did you read that?? i plan on rebuilding my entire dsm. (to say it for like the 50 time on team 2g) ill be running a 2.4 DOHC motor from a galant with awd. every 2.4 i have seen STOCK has been more then capable of running better at higher psi the the 4g63.

but just an fyi, i was running 21psi of boost on my btb16g turbo.... on pump 93 octane.... on my 4g63, with very little lower end work done to it

as for the psi state ment about how i considered 30psi to be low. 2 other people i know have this turbo and one is at 42psi and the other is at 51 psi (yeah on pump gass too). so when you look at it like that, id say 30 is a pretty low # in aspect to that. on top of that, with my dual stage boost controller, ill prolly be driving around at 14-18psi untill i hit the low-high button

i also think bullseye is a good compony.

good thing i have a 2g then huh?
