16g upgrade

Quick question before I buy the SS oil supply line. The stocker comes off the filter housing to the turbo, fits the t25 fine. MachV says the line will fit t25, 14b, etc. So do I really need to buy the SS line if the stock will fit just fine?

Proto I might not be understanding your question right but the stock setup on our cars was a hard line going from the cylinder head to the turbo...

When you upgrade your turbo it is a good idea to send that 16g freshly filtered oil over oil that was just send through the head. I guess I might be confused with your question, because if your current oil supply line is coming off your oil filter housing then it would have been modified before you got the car?

I hope that helps, Ryan

I have a hard line coming off my oil filter housing going to the turbo

Where it should be on the head correct?

Now since it comes the oil filter housing can I use the same oil line?

Yes I'm going to fix the oil leaks once I get the new setup in the car.

no,but i would be a bitch to work with.
i only feed of the head if use a ball bearing.typical head pressure is 5 to 25 psi, housing pressure is 11 to 80.

Yes you can re-use the stock one, but it's not recommended. Also it's damn near impossible to unscrew without stripping/breaking it.

So, do like every other dsm'er has done, cut it, then removie it.

Rule of thumb: You should change the feed line everytime you swap a turbo

That's what I do anyway, I don't want any crusted old oil from a previous feed line supplying oil to a fresh turbo.

Don't fret, I'm actually making a vid on how to install a turbo on saturday

On a sort of off note, CHANGE THAT OIL FILTER!! Get rid off that Fram as fast as you can and either get a wix/mobel 1/oem. I'd go with an oem, they aren't much and are basically the best you can buy for your car. I bought 4 of them from extremepsi for like 6 bucks a pop.

and another thing the line for a t25/t28 wont work with your 16g since the 16g uses a banjo fitting and the t25 uses an inverted flare one (not sure if thats the right name) and you should just swap out the line because like everyone else said its a b!tch to do

Thanks for the insight. What's wrong with fram oil filters? Always worked fine for me.

Fram's have been KNOWN to fall apart, coming apart on the inside and screwing up a lot of motors. I refuse to put those things on a lawnmower! Wix and Mobel 1 are excellent choices, they filter more microns and don't fall apart. Oem is what I use though, nothing better then oem imo.

your stock line will work ONCE you file down the holes closer together and find some smaller bolts to work, when i did my swap it took me nearly an hour to file them with a file, and remember you use new gaskets!

Can you explain that better? I already got all new OEM gaskets from the dealer.

Yes You can use the same stock oil return line, but having those two mate up is a pain....

Or for me it was...I ended up cutting right at the bend and using braided steel line....I think AN-10 "if I'm saying that right" The reason I did that is because I stripped the threads going into the oil pan to try and make the stock return line work...

sure, lets say the holes on your stock oil drain are this far apart
|----------| now the 16g has holes for the oil return too but they're this far apart
|-------| so your going to have to file them down together (holes on stock return line), or use a 1g/aftermarket return line, if your going to use the stock line, just use the gasket to figure out how much you have to file down, and like i said before it was a pain in the ass
