AEM EMS is starting to become the standard and the software is very up to date. I think if you have a 2G then DSMlink is a good unit although not a standalone.

Well then I would just go with a piggyback system, they work well and most likely will be fine for the application you are looking for.

Sounds like the Unichip or other ECU reflash programs.

As far as I know there isn't a big demand for them for DSMs so noone makes one. Honestly, just stick with a VPC or SAFC to tune.

SDS SimpleDigitalSystems I think they are out of Canada. Full stand alone with a small rich/lean control knob and another control box about the size of a big palm pilot. I used it for a short amount of time on a previous car. Turbo 420A Dodge Avenger. Not too bad of a system. Good technical suport, and the control box navigates somewhat like an SAFC. It's worth looking into if you plan on making some serious powa. You tell them exactly what you have like turbo, injector size, fuelpump size, fuel pressure, engine size etc., and they do some pre-basic programing. All this info is from 2002. I have not heard much about them since then. sdsefi.com
