Question 20g Rebuild? How Much?

Finally I decide to stay with my 96 TSI AWD and after some time I decide to finish my project wich is 300whp, this weekend I’m gona install the 2.5inch exhaust system but Im provably get the 3 inch exhaust since I’m planning to install a Big 16G, there is a guy selling a 20G that seams to be stuck or something like that and may need a rebuild, its a 20G MHI and he is selling it for $150 and I would like to know if its a good deal and how much it could be for a rebuild kit ....a brand new 20G MHI could be around $900 and if I can get it for $150 and then buy the rebuild kit for another $300 that would be a great deal....any suggestion regarding the exhaust system if its fine to run 3 inch while I still have my T25 because soon this year I’m going to get at least a Big 16G is there any problem on running a 3inch exhaust on a T25 and what about the 20G deal any ideas? Suggestions? should I go for it?

No issues running the 3" exhaust with the T2-Small. Rebuild is not easy to do on your own unless you know what you are doing, send the 20g to someone who knows how to rebuild it, not sure about the cost but I think forced performance will do for a few hundo. Do a lot more research, and don't forget all the proper supporting mods for the 300ponies you hope to have.

I got my 20g rebuilt for $275 an then another $50 to weld the flapper shut so i can run external wastegate.

You can run 3in on t25.

Rebuilds usually run around 250-300.

Hope it all works out for you.

If you were smart you'd jsut get an evo III new and say to hell with an old mhi 20g and all the problems with fitment it entails. Especially if all you want it 300 hp.

That would be like buying a Ferrari enzo just so you could run 15's at the track...

Hell you'll be clsoe to 215 on the t25 afte a full 3 inch adn probably about 250 torque if you let it run to 16 on the BCS.

in my experance that rebuild mitsu units just doesn't pay. parts seem to be priced so high that you can buy a new one for the same or less then a rebuild.

16G rebuild run in the 550 range. Screw that I'll but a new one.

A 20G runs more for the compressor wheel and bring the price up more. IDK a shop that even sells 20G any more other then Mitsu HD units ( that is not a bolt on unless you change the turbine houisng like a HAHN unit )

I agree with Attack Eagle. Hit it on the head.
