car idles at 3500 rpm
Hey guys, found a Talon AWD, 6 bolt swapped, looks good, good price, but the problem is that the car idles at 3500 rpm!!! Not sure what to look for, want to see if I can find out/fix it before I hand in the cash. The guy says that it might be that the boost pressure is a bit too high and that's why the engine revs so much at idle (but wtf)? Never heard of that before, what else might it be? Vacuum lines do that or no? Any suggestions or anyone had same problem before? Thanks in advance, finally found a decent car, yet another problem

It rev's right up to 3500 when you start the car?

Ya, a vacuum leak could be the issue. Also, checking the TB to make sure its closed all the way when the car is shut off, and the throttle cable isnt caught on anything.
Just out of curiosity, what is he boosting at?

Yeah it does it when you start the car, when in neutral. And he has a 20g turbo, boost is about 20psi, what he says. He did something to it, like almost "disable" the turbo so that it works as NA, the idles fine then.

There is no boost pressure if the engine is not loaded.
He has a massive vacuum leak or something.
what ever he is dicking with to "fix it" isthe most likely culprit.

Check to see if the TB is open, Vac leaks(massive), BISS is fallen out or something like the ISC is shatting the bed.

I see, well thanks for all the replies. And I don't think that he is trying to screw me over, sounds like a decent guy. He even says that if he fixes it, he might now even sell it anymore (could be the reason why he wanted to sell it I guess :D) But he said that he won't sell unless the problem is fixed, so...
Yeah, I'll see what I can do there, if I fix it myself, I'll bump the price down, hehe. I'll let you guys know what was the problem , if/when it gets fixed.
