Extra HP with a few mods?
Hey guys,
Quick question, I recently got a '97 GS-T Spyder which is bone stock, with the exception of a momo shift knob from the previous owner (it's puuuurdy) :) Anyway, the question is, if I were to just do a couple mods, namely intake (K&N FIPK?) and exhaust (Apexi N1?) would I, in all likely-hood, notice a difference? I'm wondering what kind of HP gains I would expect from those two mods.....
I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of 15hp? It may be a silly question, but i'm curious...
Thanks in advance.

Ya, you'll notice some type of difference. It will at least feel like youre going faster because the exhaust is louder and plays tricks on you. ha. Ya around 8-15hp is what you may get from those 2 mods, maybe more.

You could be right, and then again you could be wrong. Why i say this is, the exhaust is one of the biggest mods (other than turbo), some peole have netted 30 hp just off the exhaust, so i am not sure. Now if your just talking about a catback, then yes you are right. But if you where to get a 3' DP, 3' exhaust, tubular manifold, and one mean o2 housing or dump pipe, i am sure people could reach some good power by upgradeing the exhaust all the way. Plus, thats not counting porting yet.

I went from stock to a 3" dp and full exhaust (no cat) and a K&N FIPK setup, with hard intake pipe. The difference is amazing...I would say well over 15 hp.

cat is a huge restriction, i would say you would feel the biggest gain there, unless you live in a strict state or even if you do test pipe is the way to go. even if they do inspection's just swap the cat back in for them but it may not bolt up so you may need to get a aftermarket "High Flow" cat.

Or "gut" your cat, and no one will know the difference.

Intake, Exhaust, MBC set it to 13, and BOV upgrade.

(Aren't the 2g GST's already runnin 12-13psi stock boost pressure?)

Has anyone had their (turbo) car dynoed in stock form? If so, how much HP did it put out to the wheels?

Around 15 hp sounds about right. ALSO, get a boost controller, then it's a LOT easier to make more hp ;)

If you only want to gain 15 hp just do the free mods.
