Post Solid Lifter Conversion for all 4G63

Whats up Team-2g members. I wanted to explain what benifits you guys will have when you upgrade your valvetrain, and what you can expect, And a little Tech as well. I know there are some people out there that are saying " i already know this " , but to those members out there who are new to the modifiying game, then this might help explain somethings, let alone, give you a little better insight on how upgradeing your valvetrain can be a good move. And for those guys out there who just got the simple bolt-ons (intake, exhaust, ect. And you know who you are !!!) You are acually missing out on some of the good stuff, that will help you in conjuntion with your other mods, by moveing your A$$ down the track.
I will be covering the lifters, and a little about stiffer springs and retainers. And why you should think about converting your Hydraulic lifters to solid lifters. Here's why -

A solid lifter Valvetrain is more consistent, opens to a greater extent, and closes faster than a hydraulic setup. This translates into better control of the valvetrain, as well as more duration spent at higher flow valve lifts.
In essence, more high rpm power is found by eliminating the physical
"collapse" (and resulting power loss) experienced by hydraulic lifters at certain thresholds and valvespring pressure levels. The stronger your valve springs, the sooner this collapse will occur with hydraulics ! Likewise, fluctuations in oil pressure will affect the operation of your hydraulic, and not so with a solid lifter conversion. As a result, the solid lifter conversion, allows for higher spring pressures to be run, as well as, more aggresive camshaft lifts. So go ahead , REV IT UP !

Aside from the increased horsepower and potential to turn your engine faster, drivability and low rpm power are also increased by closing the valves quicker and Thus keeping cylinder pressures higher. Your motor will even idle better and rid itself of the dreaded "lifter tic" , which is usually caused by bad hydraulic lifters, or thicker oil wieghts. So when it time to upgrade your head/ and or replace the head and or parts. Think about this thought before you make your decision. I can tell you this, you will be one step ahead of the other guy, and hey lets face it, that alone can give you the advantage you need to win the race. (what the other guy doesnt know).

- hehe hope this helps members have a better understanding on how your valvetrain works, and how by upgradeing it can make all the diffrence.

so what ?? none of you guys found this interesting ?? oh ya i forgot everyone knows this already...LOL

But yet i have never heard anyone even attempt to talk about a Solid Lifter conversion, and what the benifits are. To all people asking. you can buy these on the web, so look around. They work in all 4G63 motors.

Yes they do, they make them for , i think all 4G63 motors. I have seen them advertised somewhere. I will take a look around and see what i can come up with. But i am 100 % positive they make them for eclipse's.

Although there some benefits to running the solid lifter there are some draw backs also. At really high RPM's they are known to throw the rockers out (10500 +). Shep ran them once and went back to 3g lifters due to throwing rockers out. I've actually thrown them out clean through the valve cover.

These pics are with 3 gen lifters and the missed shift log showed over 12,000 rpm. I spoke with Shep about this and he said he chucked rockers all the time with solids, and chose to go back to hyd 3 gens. Just my .02 Jeff
