4g64 to the maxx?!?!
I am new to this so be gentle!
I have a 99 spyder gs convertible that I love so much. I am now starting to "get into" cars. Well, not just any car but my EcLIpSE. ELISE thats what i call her! haha! anyway. I want to make her as fast as she can be. Not just fast but like everything good. I am starting with the suspension. I currently have tien spring installed. That's all. I am not done though. What i really want to know though is how or what can i do with the engine? 4g64? I want turbo/anti lag/nos/all the good stuff. somebody told me that because my car is 2.4 its weak and that i should keep the block and change the head to a 2.0 and then put turbo. Is that possible? That guy drove a CRX so i didn't consider his advice as a good one. Anyway, What should i do? Response will be greatly appreciated! T.Y.

Hai.
Build the 4g64 motor with forged internals, arp hardware, MLS headgasket, and IF you want you can do the DOHC head swap.
And bewst the fucker.
Then do the AWD swap.
Then you'll have a torquey 2.4 awd turbo vert beast.
kbai.

Welcome aboard. The 4g64 frankenstein setup is a good setup go to with. That guy kinda correct. You can put the 4g64 crank in a 4g63 block with the 4g63 head with some machine work.

No, I mean actually build the 2.4, not make a 2.3 stroker out of a 4g63. Then he/she would have to find a diff motor.

Thanks a lot guys.
I didn't really get what you guys were saying though. what is a BEWST?
and how fast would my ELISE be after all those are done? and around how much would it be in the end? I hang out with some racers here in cali and they have hondas and acuras and 350Z's that hit like 12s and 13s with out nos. I wanna be able to at least keep up. Not really i wanna smoke em all. They laugh when i talk about my car but I'm serious i really want to smoke em. I told em to give me a year or so to finish my car. The fastest in our crew is a supra, he hits high 12s then an EK with a B16 built motor which hits low 13s. they don't know that I'm starting to do this so I'm on my own. So i guess what I'm saying is HELP! i don't know where to start. i don't want to just go to a shop and have some guy i don't know work on my elise. so HELP!

lol my my you have a lot to learn young grasshopper. 7inch's vocabulary isn't very extensive you'll have to excuse him. Bewst = Boost. Sell the Spyder GS, buy a Spyder GST, put a bigger turbo on it, exhaust, fuel system, good tune, and you'll run with your friends, possibly faster.
If you do want keep the Spyder GS, build the engine and boost it. With good parts and a good tune you can have around the same numbers.

1G 4G63T head, ported, polished, stainless valves, heavier springs, ARP headstuds, 3-5angle valve job, cam the bitch with 280's, 70mm throttle body, a good headgasket (Cometic is now making one for our 4G64) intake manifold (JMF), equal-length stainless exhaust manifold, external wastegate, bigger O2 housing if you go with the 16g or 20g turbo setup, 3in catless all the way back.
Keep the 4G64 block, eleminate the balance shafts, Wiseco or JE forged pistons made for the 4G64 w/ 22 or 21mm wrist pin (depending on choosing the 1g rods or 2g rods, Eagle connecting rods (comes with ARP rod bolts as well), bore block out ONLY IF NEEDED...no reason to take away more material off the cylinder walls if your block is good to go (IMHO).
95 Ecu, 2G knock sensor, DSM Link, 255lph walbro fuel pump, 850-1100cc injectors (depending on how crazy you go), Front-mount intercooler (or even watercooled if you choose so), your choice of BOV (Tial = awesome), 2.5in intercooler piping, Heavy-ass-duty clutch (ACT or Exedy...ACT is just exedy clutch parts with some tweeks to em), light-ass flywheel.
Your route on your turbo can range from the Mitsu 16g - a GT42 turbo to a Turbonetics Y2K turbo...hell the sky's the limit...and your wallet too lol.
Once everything is together and you get a nice tune, make 30 or so psi, and represent us 4G64 guys...and you get tired of breaking those 4G64 axles, drop the 4G64 Tranny, find a 4G63 tranny, and upgrade the axles (Driveshaft shop makes fairly good ones from what I hear).
And there you go...a DOHC 4G64T...with more horsepower than you can imagine or even need...
And I'm done with my rant....lmao...hope this helps.

Not to mention the torque as well. Longer stroke ftw. Plus, she likes it too

Hmmm.. not to thread jack but will DSMLink work on a 4G64? If so will it work on ALL 4G series motors?

Here is a huge question for you. How much money do you have for this project? It might be cheaper to just get a gsx or gst... Do you have something to drive while you car is down? Details details...

yes, because you will be using the turbo ecu (of course you'd still have to get an eprom ecu for dsmlink)

Answer is most likely not mainly because our 4G64 ECU is not an Eprom type. Even though the 4G64 Ecu and 2G 4G63 Ecu's are almost identical in pin-outs, you still need a 1995 Turbo ECU because they were the only ECU that is Re-flashable. Every other Ecu from the 2G is not.
