lowering?
I've got a couple of questions concerning the lowering of my 96 rs:
1.should i stick to eibach or h&r, or does brand not make a difference?
2.would just replacing the springs and not struts/shocks make an umcomfortable ride?
3.would dropping it less than 2" require a camber kit?
4.anything thats worked well/poorly in personal experience?
thanks a lot

H&R are great so are eibach, yes get better struts the stock ones are probly old now and since the strut was not ment to go lower than stock it is more likely to blow.

I would say you go for a quality set of springs first and install them. Eibach Pro-Kits are very popular and very nice quality. Once you throw them on, it's only going to be a matter of time before your OEM struts start to go on you. Be sure you're setting money aside for new struts right away once you install the springs. You don't have to install it all at once, but it is the right way to do things.
I would stay away from bargain basement brands when it comes to suspension.

Answers:
1. Eibach makes a great high quality spring for both comfort and handling. H&R also makes a great spring but in my mind they are more for handling then comfort. I would stick with these two brands.
2. It will very soon once your struts blow. OEM struts are not made for that much travel. A couple of good brand names are KYB and Tokico.
3. Yes, most defiantly. Even droping 1" will require a camber kit. The rear suffer more then the front. Ingalls makes a great kit, if you lower more then 1" 1/2 you will want the -1.50 to -3.0 camber kit.
4. Right now I am running Eibach Sportlines with KYB AGX struts and a Ingalls rear camber kit. I love the setup and can't wait to get sway bars.
Your going to want to do Springs, Struts and the Camber kit all at once. This will save you money, and labor in the long run. Also make sure to get an alignment after this is all done. For awesome handling I would set your camber to -1.50 all the way around.

ok, i just checked ebay and found some tokico spring/shock combos. You said that tokico makes good shocks, but what about their springs? If they are good quality, is $330 a good deal for the combo?

Tokico makes a good spring as well. $330 sounds like a damn good price to me. Just make sure that it specifies that it is for a Eclipse non-turbo.

make sure it doesn't say "tokico like" or something along those lines .. as long as the seller has a lot of feedback 2000+ and a high percentage you should be fine .... Ebay can be a good or bad resource.

ok 2crazy4u, so I buy and install the spring/shock package, then take it to like les schwab for the alignment. Do I let them install the camber kit, or should I do that on my own? If on my own, prior to the alignment or after?

the guy i get to line up wheels and stuff said a camber kit wouldnt help me, because theres not enough space. I dont know if he is correct or not but thats what he said. He wants to charge me $100 to cut and weld and do a 4 wheel alignment. $50 for the 4 wheel alignment and $50 for the rest. Cheap compared to most others, but im still wondering if i should purchase a camber kit, i would just hate to get it and it not work.

This is what your going to want to do. Once you've installed the springs and struts go down to your local alignment shop and ask how much negative camber you have in the rear. They will give a number like -1.60 or similar. Once you got that number you now know which camber kit to buy. Ingalls makes a great kit. Purchase the kit and install it yourself, it's really easy. Once you've installed the kit then go get your 4 wheel alignment done.
Once you install your camber kit your car is probably going to handle like shit until you get your 4 wheel alignment done. This is because your toe will be off.
Good luck, feel free to PM me if you have any other questions. Also the names Chris.
I just saw that you live in Corvallis, finally another Oregon member.

What does he mean "not enough space"? Not enough space for what? Also what does he want to cut and weld? If I was you I would go to a different shop for another opinion.
