How to keep people from reviving old threads

I notice every once in awhile an old thread gets revived and then you all (the moderators) close it down so that it wouldnt get revived again. I was wondering if there was a way to close a thread after no one has posted in it for a month. This would keep old threads from being revived and i cant think of any way it would harm the forum. But anyways just a suggestion.

It gives the mods something to do, other than correct our grammar.

Sometimes there is a good reason for it being revived, most of the time not though

You know how many threads we have in our database and how long that would take?

Or how about this solution: Don't revive threads if you don't have a valid reason to. That works and if everyone follows it, we won't have a problem.

And if everyone typed using correct grammar, we wouldn't need to be correcting it. It's really simple. Instead of the mods fixing everything, why not work on not mispelling, reviving old threads, going offtopic, etc?

I know Mike, just giving you guys a hard time. It seems like every thread I've read for the past week has one of the mods correcting grammar. I wish people would learn so I don't waste my life seeing you guys taking up post space with warnings.

I understand what your saying and I agree but if the person that revives the old thread doesn't get a answer to his question with the old thread then he might as well just post a new one asking his specific question instead of reviving the old one since it wouldnt help.

I didnt mean that the moderators should go through every thread and close them I was wondering if there was a way to have the threads "time themselves out" to where they automatically close after no one has posted in them for a month.

And i agree that if everyone did their part that would also be a solution to the problem.

If people didn't type like brain damaged monkeys, there would be no reason to correct the spelling and grammar. If people would look at dates, there would be no thread revival. Simple, huh?

Some threads can be revived and others don't. It depends on the topic.
