Nevermind...its not the number of valves thats the problem...the valves in the turbo head are just a tid-bit bigger. My mistake...looks like I'll have a project over the summer afterall lol.

it's all in the timing.
SOHCs can't swirl.

DOHC adds to the HP over the SOHC. If it did not then we could just pop a turbo on the 4g64 and call it a day. The DOHC IS the reason for the swap as well as the turbo.

Adding a turbo to the 4G64 will bring you to around 200 HP running at 9-10 PSI. Swapping the DOHC on and running the same 9-10 PSI will net you around 260 HP. That is close to a 30% gain right there. Read your tech stuff BEFORE you do the swap to make sure you know what you are getting into. a 260 HP FWD stroker is what you end up with .... which also has more torque than a boosted up 4G63-T. It's all in the cams.

FWIW I am hoping to attempt this swap myself as soon as I find a decent parts car. Need to swap the rear brakes from drum to disc as well to improve the braking since I am planning to put more power to the ground.
