KarKing 1g block 2g head.. worth it?
I recently spun a connecting rod bearing.. have about 160k mileage... just wanted to get a rebuilt motor.. but then i see this.. and it seems as easy as dropping a 7bolt in.. just wanted to know if this motor would be the best way to go.. been out of the DSM circle for more then a year with my damn 2g sitting in my garage..
Thanks, your long lost friend Dana... lol |

Their quality isn't the greatest from what many people can tell you (friend of mine snapped his crank from one of their motors). I would suggest you find a friend who can do this for you or you do it yourself.

Karking is a good company and I have nothing bad to say about them. The engine that I currently have in my car I bought from them. However mine is a 420a non turbo.

It is a 4g61 block from a hyundai that has been bored to dangerous levels. Don't waste your money.

Can the 4g61 even drop in with no mods? Cause they say it will drop right in.. and is that even legal for them to lie and say its a 4g63 when its not?

My buddy got an n/a block with mix match parts so i don't really approve of their quality control. Its all up to you tho, if you really need the car or if you want to have this motor in your car do it you might get lucky.

Honestly I have around 5k.. I just want a respectable company and I was looking for the cheapest. And they had 7bolt for 1800 and then I saw the 6bolt swap so I was like hmmm... I orignally wanted the long block from slowboyracing but don't want to pay 5k and then another 1300 for the swap.

Pick up a 6bolt from a junkyard and send it off to get a complete rebuild and it should be under 5k. Then purchase the harness for the 6bolt swap from roadraceengineering.com and you'll be set. Pay someone a few hundred for install and you should be within your budget.

I just called SBR they said they'll build me a 7bolt pretty basic but a lot better then factory.. so do I go with gearhead which is 3k with 3year unlimited miles waranty or SBR 3500 with no waranty?

Don't know what to do... seems like SBR knows more about the 4g63.. they said they build 120 a year on average.. but gearhead has the waranty... hmm..
