a few gs-t ?s from a newb

i discussed what i wanted with crossbreed on a boy sets fire message board. bascilly i want basic stuff on ym gs-t nothing crazy. exhaust, intake, fmic, bov, boost controller, and a few other things. he suggested i get a bigger turbo. that the stock smic is efficent enough. i understand it may be efficent enough, but wouldnt a fmic be more efficent? plus i dont really want a new turbo. the stock one is plenty for now. im not looking to have a street beast just maybe 250hp to the wheel.
also how much boost can a stock turbo handle? and how much is it putting out stock?
i probably have more ?s and these may have been answered but search never works right for me. so im sorry in advance.

The FMIC is alot more efficeint than a stock SMIC if you up the boost. Your running 11.9 psi stock. Your stock turbo will handle 15 psi and thats almost all your stock fuel system will handle.

You don't need a FMIC for your stock turbo, because you can only run 15 or so psi .. and your SMIC will push more than enough air through it ..

Now he said that you should upgrade your turbo, because that's where you make the majority of your power .. I would be a lot easier to make 250 whp on an upgraded turbo, but you'll have to upgrade your fuel system as well .. I would listen to him though, he knows what he's talking about.

You have about 210 bhp, so probably somewhere around 180 whp or so ...

Like I stated on the other board but probably didnt make it clear was...

The stock turbo on 2Gs (T-25) are considered very small by most. (me included) It doesnt flow enough air to fill a big FMIC and will cause a noticeable amount of increased lag and pressure drop across the big core. Also it will be hard, but not impossible to heat soak the stock side mount IC with the stock turbo, Hell the stock side mount is enough to handle the 14B (bigger turbo from manuel 1g) in most cases.

The stock turbo with the stock fuel system is good up to 15-16 PSI of boost on the T-25. Yes you can boost more with an upgraded fuel system, but with T-25 is not efficient enough to warrant the extra pounds of boost and will not see any gains. By running the T-25 at such high amounts of boost it will cause it to wear out faster (maybe 5k miles) than you are going to need to replace it. With what? A bigger turbo of course. Than your fu*ked. I have said it once and I will say it again, "modding a DSMs is more addicting than crack!"

Oh Yea and welcome. You came to the right place to learn how to mod your car the right way.

what if i got a samll fmic? not like a huge one. it me more efficant than stock and not so much bigger. this way either way if i upgrade turbos or not it works well. really tho i think with the things i listed. running 15psi when i want and like 12-13 daily id be good. so with that and a tune i think i should be very close to 250whp. or maybe im wishful thinking.

I guess you can put on a small FMIC but it would be a complete waste of money. If you want to upgrade the stock SMIC (side mount IC) dejon tools sells an upgraded smic. The stock T-25 is a small worthless turbo and it would be hard to reach your goal. If 250 WHP is your goal and you dont think you want to go any high I would suggest a 14b (stock turbo from a 1g) they are much better and would allow you to reach your goal more easily.

You can usually get a 14B for around $100 to $150. The catch is you have to find one yourself and you have to buy an install kit ($150) for it to fit on the 2G. I dont know of any company that sells them. The good news is there are tons out there because most people upgrade them. Try searching the classifieds on this and other DSM sites.

Yes, the 1g manuels have a better all around turbo. That autos had a 13g that sucked worse than the T-25.

The stock turbo should finish spooling around 2,500 to 3k RPM. Chances are with a stock BOV (2g is a POS anyways) you will not be able to hear it "blow off". There are somthing that you can do to make it more audable though. Once you get an open air filter (K&N) it will make a noticable difference in the sound. Another cheap (free) mod you can do is cut the air slincer tube out of the stock air intake pipe or you can spend the money for a metal one. Also once you start upgrading the IC pipes you will be able it hear it spool and blow off better.
