Cool Plugs Carboned @ 5K miles

Still looking for answers, started as grey whitish smoke with lots of oil on pulley side of car (left) underside carraige. pulled plugs they seem awfully black but maybe normal for 4g63t? Also have about 1/4'' shaft play on turbo prop and noticed grey metal color oil on intake side of turbo. Exhaust manifold is cracked (factory) on underside and noticed exhaust seems really black and carboned. What should I check next any ideas.
HAVE TO GET RUNNING AGAIN ASAP;
COULD LUCAS OIL HAVE CAUSED A PROBLEM WITH THE MOTOR and running 20/50.

THANK 2g friends

Lucas oil? what kind of lucas oil? 20/50? Lucas 20/50 is oil made for alcohol drag motors... not your 4g63T! As far as the white smoke... thats coolant burning... that means a shot headgasket. Your motor sounds like it needs alot of attention, shot turbo, shot mani, probably shot HG... wow...

Good luck

well 20/50 is stated in the owners manual according to the temp. chart and the lucas was only a quart that you buy and mix with your oil. Don't get it twisted this 2g owner does things right not half ass, I'AM very good at the things I do and since I'am not a mits.tech advisor thats why I know enough TO come here and ask the people who do.Thanks.

Ok, fair enough... but please get your head gasket checked out... do a compression test on it and let us know the results...

yes lucas does give your oil a nasty color, as long as your not talkin chocolate milk you should be ok. and burning oil or rich will cause your spark plugs to get black fast check your turbo seals. BTW 20w50 is for worn out old engines, you shouldn't be running anything over 10w40

I know old thread but somewhere i saw that if you add lucas oil stabalizer it gets rid of the horrible lifter tick and runs smoother. Just wanted to see if this is a good idea or not.

20w50 works great in high rpm applications but the motor needs to be properly clearance for it.

Seafoam did the trick for me.

it doesnt have a weight on the bottle. Its a synthetic oil additive. You add 1 quart per 4 quarts oil. they also have a non synthetic oil additive.

Never heard of seafoam ill look into that aswell.

I had lifter tick in my 2000. I used Lucas Oil a couple times and it seemed to work, but the second I stopped using it (I was using it with 10w30) it would come back. I just switched from 10w30 to 10w40 and it pretty much took care of it until the oil got some use on it/dirty then it would come back. I recently did seafoam on it and I haven't heard it since.

For our cars we beat the shit out of them and if you say you do not you are lying. I personally run 15w40 on a brand new rebuilt motor. My friend Alex runs 20w50 on his brand new rebuilt motor. Mitsu actually recommends running 20w40. Good luck finding it but thats what it says.
