Check engine light-bad idle no power
I rev'd the engine to give my buddy a blow off as I passed his house. Right after I did this, the idle went down, lost power and the car shakes. i thought it might be a spark plug fouled, but the check engine light came on. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you scan the code or check the plugs? Are you recirc your bov? Boost leak?

LOL I love seeing people throw guesses like lawn darts but yeah Rad is right check your plugs if you have no recirc prolly dumped alot of gas in the cylinders. BTW how high did you rev?

I have know Idea how high I rev'd. It start cold and runs fine, but after a few min. it goes into limp mode. How do I check the codes?? The on-off-on-off-on in 5 sec. dosen't work.

Will a boost leak effect normal operation? One more thing I noticed, I will push the accelerator down and rev to about 2500 rpm, but the exhaust sounds like it much, much higher, would this fall in line with one of the theorys above?

OK new symptom....tried changing the spark plugs and ALL of them were totally covered in oil. Changed them anyway. Started the engine, white smoke blew out the tailpipe, and the idle is still the same.

Did the smoke have a blue-ish tint to it or was it pure white?

Do a compression test. I think anyone with a car should have one, they come in handy almost like a spare tire.

Check piping and hope that you have a leak, smoke is no bueno, just ignore it...haha jk
