Timing belt install. Help!

I'm having alot of trouble getting the exhaust and intake sprockets to match up after i get the belt on. I must have took that belt off and put it on about 20 times and they still will not line up. It all matches up while i put it on, but then when i turn the cam sprocket clockwise then back counterclockwise, the oil pump sprocket, camshaft sprocket and balance shaft sprocket all line up. When i go up to look at the exhaust and intake there all out of whack. I tried turning the exhaust 1 tooth clockwise but still no luck, ive tried it all. Any ideas because ive ran out!?

If you tried turning the exhaust cam 1 tooth clockwise and it still skips, then i would suspect the tensioner. Are you using a torque wrench and the special tool to properly torque this down?

No im not using the special tensioner tool maybe thats why its not lining up.. all Ive done was stuck a screwdriver in there and and put as much tension as possible... i guess im putting too much tension on the belt?

I would suggest picking up the tensioner tool to do the job right.

Here you can get it for $25 off this website. I have this tool. I dont need it but I had it for my 3kgt and it works really good. Google Image Result for http://www.team3s.com/Images/tool-timing-tensioner-pulley-tool-2-200.jpg or here is a little cheaper http://www.toolsource.com/timing-bel...urceid=froogle

So if i get that tool the timing shouldn't be off anymore? I don't understand how too much or too little tension could make it skip like that?

If you wear really big pants and don't use a belt and you start to walk will they fall off? Similar concept here just with your timing belt and tensioner instead.

Obviously your not doing something right and not having the right tool is not helping, so buy the tool and try it.

OK, i think i finally found out what i was doing wrong..
In the VFAQ i wasn't doing this, for one thing.

32. Rotate the camshaft timing belt tensioner pulley so that the pinholes are under the center bolt. Tighten the center bolt to spec (48 Nm (35 ft-lbs)) (Figure 19).

* I never put the pin holes under the center bolt...

This is what my dumb ass did, i would tension the pulley as far as it would go for the most tension on the belt and try to crank and see if it would all line up. For some stupid reason i thought everything would line up and then i take the pin out of the auto tensioner...
