Dont know what to do

K guys I have had my eclipse for about 4 months now. I cant decide what I want to do to it. I keep saying I will turbo it then I say I wont and I will only do N/A mods. I also want to lower it and get bigger rims but I am not sure which size I should get or which brand has good rims that are light wieght. I basically want to go with a little performance and a little bit of visual. It would be nice having my eclipse do a quarter mile in the 13s and I know that Hanhracecraft makes a stage 2 turbo kit but I think if I did that I would have to rebuild my engine or atleast replace most of the iternals and on top of that install would be really expensive. As for visual mods I want to smoke my tail lights, my reverse lights, my head lights and my turn signals. I also want to get different bulbs for my head lights. If I was to go the N/A route I would go with a borla catback which I am getting no matter what, greedy headers, a bored out throttle body and I am not sure what else. I know I should have got a turbo charged one but I love my eclipse and will not sell it. It is in exellent condition. Silvermitsugt-s can vouch for that especially my paint. The current mods I have are AEM CAI(which I am looking to get a by-pass valve for soon) and an unorthodox underdrive crank pulley.

Well you certainly have a big decision to make. If you don't have a lot of money to maintain and get repairs, etc i deff. would not be buying a turbo or NOS. both items are expensive and require keeping the car well maintained.

I don't know what kind of budget you have or your knowledge of mechanics. I think the biggest mistake i made with my old car was that I bought it and immediately started making changes (intake, lights, rims, exhaust, etc). What i should have done was go get all the REGULAR engine maintenance done, such as timing belts, plugs, suspension, etc. Remember you need to have a good strong engine before you start adding things on it.

Check my suggestions to the other NA users. First make sure all your major maintenance is completed then go with:

(You already have intake)
2.5" Header
2.5" mandrel bent exhaust
Tokico/KYB shocks and some springs
Upgraded clutch + lightened flywheel
UD underdrive pulley
SAFC
360cc injectors
50 wet shot

That would make the car very fun to drive again and give you much improved handling and about 30 horsepower in NA form, 80 on the juice. Good for mid 15s off the juice, 14s on it. That is beating alot of cars you would have previously lost to.

I also am doing the N/A way. Turboing is cool and all but for people like you and me with a budget of money and time, it is overwhelming.

Doing your car with only engine upgrades will make it a kick ass daily driver. Throw like a small Nitrous Express system on there and you can knock a second or two off of your time, and still keep the reliability.

I have an upgraded

intake,
headers and downpipe,
spark plugs and wires,
and i have noticed significant power increases with out spending over 500 buck. By the way... shop ebay. I got my headers and downpipe for 100 bucks and a racing cat for $20, and 10mm plug wires for $20, all decent brands.

Careful with ebay in the form of "you get what you pay for"

SSautochrome, OBX and pacesetter sell some cheaper headers for your cars but the welds are horrible and will leak after a short period of time. Check the brand or post here and see what everyone thinks before buying.
