Dodge Avenger/Chrysler Sebring with I4 engine = 100% same drivetrain and 90% same car all around as the Eclipse/Talon even the doors and swappable
except for the V6 Avenger/Sebring which has a mitsubishi v6 engine matched with the same chrysler a604 tranny
now this being said, yes the Pt Cruiser Turbo atx tranny is swappable into the eclipse/talon too
there are 2 versions of the Pt Cruiser Turbo, the high output one at 215-230 hp (depend of the years) and the Limited version at 180 HP
the Limited has a stock a604 same as yours
the high ouput has the stronger a604 and larger torque convertor that's the one you should be looking for
if you do the complete swap you will need to know that
A) get the starter of the Pt Cruiser Turbo High output if you intend to use the larger torque convertor too because the torque convertor doesn't fit on the 420a flexplate it needs the Pt Cruiser turbo flexplate, both flexplates have the same size and both will fit on the 420a engine, BUT the gears on the Pt Cruiser turbo flexplate are larger and don't fit properly with the 420a starter so do the whole swap starter/flexplate/torque convertor OR keep your starter, your flexplate and your old torque convertor
B) the 10 pin plug on the Pt Cruiser Turbo tranny is the newer larger style also found on 99 Eclipse you will need to swap the connector, it's an easy job the pin out is the same you need to cut and wired back pin for pin however finding the plug could be a nightmare so INSIST to get it from the junkyard when you will buy your tranny, many junkyard leave the harness on the engine and that plug is a part of the engine harness
C) they don't use the same engine mount but the holes are already there to put them, so just unbolt the pt cruiser turbo engine mount and put yours back on it, a big 5 minutes job :) you will also need to swap the little bracket where the shifter cable bolt too they are not the same another 5 minute job
D) last your need to use your old oil stick and on mine I had to drill a small hole and tap threads in it to bolt the stick the pt cruiser turbo oil stick doesn't bolt at the tranny but much higher on the engine so there are no hole for that and for the cross member engine mount the holes where there but not deep enought for my old bolts i just put a few washers to fill the space or you could get shorter bolts
overall that's a great upgrade shift 1-2 is very strong, 2-3 3-4 are ultra smooth I can't even feel them the gear ratios are the same too
