Downshift into 3rd rpm limit ?

Hey guys , at what RPM is it dangerous if not tranny suicide to downshift to 3rd (asuming that the tranny has about 106 k miles on it) :?:

6k in 5th gear....

I don't know, it's hard to tell. I would say go test it out, but that wouldn't work out. Usually in 4th gear, you could drop down to the higher end of 3rd, I'd say until close to redline in 4th. Anything after maybe 6k in 4th will put you past redline in 3rd.

That actually happened to me when I was still getting used to a stick (went from 5th to 2nd) except I didnt blow the tranny lol (from 3.5 k rpm ) but that felt and sounded nasty ( like a power saw going through a 4X4 )

Take 3rd to redline. Note the speed. Never get into 4rd unless you're well below that speed. Otherwise, you either don't do any good (go any faster) or overrev and nuke your shit.

I've NEVER even taken my engine to redline. 6k is the highest I go (but I like shifting at 6 'cause I bark the tires into 2 :)). I'm way to scared to do that, considering I'm all stock. I'm gettin my PP account verified tomorrow though!! w00t. Let the spending begin. :D
