Dry ice method

Has anyone used the dry ice method for dents? Suppossedly you can use dry ice to pop out small dents in your car because the difference in temp causes the metal to stretch.

Interesting concept, I might try it. And if anyone's wondering, this was on DSMsource, but I hate that forum so I thought I'd bring it here.

I too have heard and it does work if done right. Now I have seen it tempted by some one "who know what they were doing" and it ended in disaster causing more problems than he started with.

I help my friend out with a dent she had. I used the method shown in the video below. It worked for the most part, but the dent can't be creased at all, it has to be fairly minor.

Remove Car Dent With Airduster Video

Also, if it's on like a door or somewhere you can get to from the other side of the dent, you can attempt to push it out.

That's a neat trick and sounds very plausible. My question is: how does the paint stand up after the dent is removed? I would rather have a small dent and leave it than have a small dent, try the dry ice, get the dent out, but have the paint chipped off. So will the paint stand up after? If not, anyone know a method that would.

Maybe this was answered in the video up above, but I want to hear from someone who's done this or knows a really lot about it. BTW, my internet connect speed is in no way able to handle a video without an overnight load session so if it was answered in the vid, forgive me.

Very cool! I'm gonna try that on some of the door dings I got. Thanks! :)

No, it doesn't mess up your paint at all. You simply wipe off the fog created from the co2 with a rag and your good to go.

actually if you dont have a high flex paint, it will spider crack under the cold temps. short periods of time will be fine, but if left too long it will ruin the paint

I make dry Ice damn near everyday (job) but I wouldn't put it on your paint.I would think the liquid would be a little more safe being that your paint isn't going to remain frozen for a longer period of time.I would first test it out on a junker
