What Should I Do?

So I bought an eclipse woohoo, but the sound isn't that great. The guy put in a pretty decent Dual head unit, and these speakers in the front that glow blue , it looks pretty sick, but i want a lil more bass. Im really on a tight budget and i dont need the best of the best. It dosen't have an Amp yet, so would that be enough? and what kind of amp and how hard is to install an Amp?

It all depends on what ranges of bass you want. You can get a top of the line amp and have amazing bass or you can get a bottom line for cheap that you can use for just your speakers in the doors and back seat speakers.

There are so many different types of amps that can be used for all different levels of sound.

Please search this stuff and let us know exactly what you are looking to get out of it. As that would give us a better starting point then "I don't need the best of the best."

Oh and amps are easy to install as long as you know what your doing.

Well all depends on what you mean by good. Like myself good is when you dynomat the hell out of your car and install 3 12" Alpine Type-R's. They hit super hard but then you also gain a shit ton of weight by doing that.

Not trying to say that you are gonna be a racecar or anything cause I have no idea what your plans are with your eclipse. So if your thinking you want subtle bass then there is no need for subs.

Just pick up a decent amp and replace your deck with a better unit and get some better speakers with or without your "sick" lights, (Sorry not a fan of those) and make sure they are like alpine or infinity speakers (can't think of another good brand atm). Do not get cheap if your looking for this kind of stuff and go to Walmart for speakers cause X-Plods look ok, but take a crap easier.

Yes please tell us the budget cause really without that you can't even begin to determine what is needed. Like if by budget you mean $200 you will get no where with that.

You will really need to state your budget then we can go from there and knock off what you can get with that.

And like Jack has stated please use proper capitalization in posts. Thank you.

Good brands in my mind, Pioneer, Alpine-although their headunits have worthlessly low voltage pre-amp outs, Kenwood, Eclipse, Infinity and maybe kicker, although I'm not a big fan of them.

Well I did mean 200 dollars . What do you suggest for a good amp? I am kind of leaning toward Kenwood or Alpine.

Check criagslist. You can find a decent sub/amp combo for about $200 there. Most times.

I see killer deals on local craigslist ads all the time. Just make sure you test them before buying. I would go with JL's, but that's just my personal preference.

On a 200 dollar budget, that is your best bet. Low end gear shouldnt sound to bad considering your working around dual speakers.
Installing an amp isnt to hard, but if you have never done it, dont even atempt it, lots can go wrong.
Second adding a 4 channel amp to your existing speakers will not give you more bass, the sound will get richer, fuller and louder but will not produce bass, mid range bass is the best you can hope for and with the speakers you have, that is very limited as well.
If you want good balanced sound without a sub in your car, with good high, mid range and bass, 200 dollars wont even get you a good amp, not to mention a set of components that can run upwards to a grand. And you will still need rear speakers. Hope this helps.

When I did my Eclipse, cost me as follows:

$102 head unit, Best Buy
$100 2 12inch subwoofers with custom enclosure, off craigslist
$140 1000watt amp, Best Buy
$30 wiring, Best Buy

You already have the head unit, and you could probably get a cheap amp off craigslist as well. It's doable for $200, but it won't sound as nice as if you had, say, $400.

By the way, I later replaced the shitty enclosure with a $100 sealed enclosure from Q-Logic. Sounded a lot better.
