ok guys i have a boss 850 watt mono amp and 2 '10s.
they are lightning audio subs i do believe.at 750 watts per sub in a
ported and plexiglass box.my friend who use to work at a car audio shop said my system sounds like it is not getting enough power.
he suggested getting a cap for it,is there anything else i can try???

How do you have it wired? Are your lights dimming when the subs hit?

The subs are peak 750 each? So what are the rms watts? Prob around 250 or so each.

they are 150 rms a piece.the lights don't dim or anything. my friend said
that the subs get more out of them so i dont know.

Wire them for one ohm and make sure your stereo knows it's hooked up to a sub amp. Then make sure you have the gains adjusted on both the amp and the HU.

After you do that, sell those subs and buy two re8's. I garuntee they'll hit harder and they don't need a whole lot of power. If your amp really does 850 (which I doubt) then 4 of those will murder any best buy system you ever see.

I doubt a boss 850w amp is 1 ohm stable. I'd have to see a spec sheet.

Type in re8 at ebay.com

They are resonant engineering 8" subs

You can wire 2 of these subs up to 2ohm

It wouldn't fry. It would stay stuck in protection mode until you turned the amp off then turned it back on.

1: what is the vc configuration on your 150w subs?
what ohms are they?

2: i figure that boss probably does 200w at best before distorting like a Slavador Dali painting.

I;d certainly take a single quality 12 or 3 re8s over those lightning strike (so named becasue that is the only way their amps can make rated power) if you had an amp that could drive them.
