question about capacitor

I recently bought 4 alpine type r speakers and 2 pioneer premier 12'' subs. Also a alpine deck. Speakers are on a 2000 watt 4 channel amp. The subs are on a 4000 watt 2 channel amp. I put everything in and when the deck is on (amps come on with deck on) my lights dim and my battery light dims. I bought a yellow top optima battery and it still happens. I am going to buy a capacitor. Do I need 2? One for each amp or will 1 work with both amps? Also my amps make a whinning noise. When the RMP's get higher the noise gets louder. I know they make noise filters to eliminate the noise but i'm not sure where to buy them. I have seen them around the biggest one i've seen is for 30 amp systems. Not sure what size I need. Any help would be appreciated. By the way i'm not new to team 2g I just had to make a new name becuase of the login problem.

What you should do is run both amps troug the capacitor and make a universal ground from the capacitor to the chasis. The noise you are referring to is Alternator Whine, which is caused by ground loops. In short somewhere in the car you have a bad ground wire, ground connection, or you may be running power and signal cables to close to each other, or your ground cable may be too long. Look this up on google for suggestions.

I would really like to see these "2000 and 4000" watt amplifiers you're using. If you have 1 4 channel and 1 2 channel, depending on the true RMS wattage will determine what size capacitor/how many you need.

1)sounds like your alt is taking a dump
2)speakers not wired in the correct ohm load
3)Power and ground not large enough
4)DSM alts are crap, I come from GM cars that have Large Case Alts pushing 140 amps vs DSM 70 amps.

First off they are both ebay amps so I know they arnt true watts. If I wanted 2 rockford amps that equal 6000 watts I would have to pay around $4500, that just isnt worth it to me.
It is a new alt, about 2 months old.
For the 2 channel i'm running 4 gauge and for the 4 channel i'm running 8 gauge.
Also another problem i've been having is when the system is pounding I can smell my amp buring. The deck I have goes to 35 max volume, when it is at 18+ for more than a couple minutes I can smell it. The subs cut out the other day and stopped working. I still got sound from the speakers but the subs cut in and out. I checked connections on the amp and they were fine. I didn't check the ground becuase I was at work and couldn't rip apart my back seat. My 2 channel amp was burning hot. I couldn't even touch it. The 4 channel was fine. I don't know if it is just becuase it is an ebay amp or if something else is wrong.

Two rockford amps that put out the actual watts that your ebay amps are would be no where near $4,500. From what I have seen with "cheap" amps like that is they might put out 25% or less of what they are rated at.

How do you have the subs wired? What ohm are the subs? how many ohms is the amp stable at? It sounds like the amp is getting too hot and is cutting out.

As far as the high pitch sound, do you have your RCA wires running next to you power or ground wires? That could be a couse for the sound too.

Check all of the connections, and fuses. You may have blown a fuse.

I had a RF Power T20001bd amp that put out 3156 RMS watts that was $1500.

Exaclty, that is far less than $4500 and probably puts out more than those ebay amps.

How did you hook up the deck? Did you splice the wires or did you get a harness that it plugs into? If you spliced the wires and hooked up the wrong wires that can cause it. Had the same problem when I bought my car, previous owner hooked it up wrong and I had to go and rewire it.

With my old Kenwood subs i was running 8 gauge wire. Then with the new subs i got 4 gauge. Maybe the amp is getting to much power and is overheating? Also no I did not splice the wires. I got a harness. I will check if the RCA's are too close to the ground/power. Appreciate all the help guys.

The 4 gauge wire will not cause the overheating, you can run as big of gauge as you want as long as the ground is the same, the more power to the amp the better, and the shorter the better.
The amp is overheating because of the load, how do you have the subs wired?
