yes like a plastic bag wrapped around one end of the MAF and the CAI piping over the other end. So bootleg. Thanks biohazard but I mean I should still hear something with regular driving or at least feel a kick. Shouldn't I?

post pictures/take it to a mechanic and pay to have basic tests run, compression, boost leak, maybe a leakdown. way better safe than sorry

I wish I thought to take pictures. The thing is I don't want to call up the owner again to say "hey could I take a second glance at all the problems with the car?" but it was a piece of work I'll tell you. Let me see if I can better explain though. The engine ran fine but lacked the much that I expected, no real torque or horsepower in it for a car with an upgraded turbo. My 3G (with CAI) had more kick than it and the plastic bag was lining the inside of the coupler linking the CAI and MAF. the FMIC install looked a bit weak, like it had some fitment issues. So I think there's a boost leak small enough so that under a heavy enough load the air will reach the BOV. Sound reasonable?

^^^ This, if your gonna spend thousands of dollars pay a little to have a mechanic inspect it. If the seller doesn't like the idea of you paying a mechanic to check it out before buying it, he is hiding something.

The car should run like shit, because of massive boost leaks. There is no way some plastic bag is holding boost.

Ok I'm sorry but I haven't posted in months due to people like this. I just have to say this then I'll be nice...your a dipshit.

Ok now nice. The 2g GSX is amazing compared to any 3g. My fiance owns an 02 GS and my best friend owns a 98 GSX. The GSX is known to have problems with people that mod them and don't recirculate the BOV, which sounds to me and everyone else here that the car you test drove was not circulated back. That right there will cause a boost leak so you were correct on the boost leak.

With a boost leak you will experience that loss in power which makes it less peppy. Easy fix for that recirculate it back and tada that BL is gone, well hopefully.

Now onto the 3g platform. What a POS they are. The engine bay is very hard to work with, has no where near the room of a GSX, and is just fucked up beyond all belief. I am in the process of turboing a 3g because it has really no go to it. Now mind you my gf isn't very smart and doesn't wanna sell of her precious 3g for the glory of a turbo 2g instead she is purchasing parts that aint cheap to turbo the car which can really only run like 12psi.

Body wise the 2g owns the shit out of a 3g. Unless that 3g has stratus doors cause the "ripples" or whatever the fuck they are, are super fucking gay. What guy wants to drive a car that has "curves" in the doors. It aint making the car more aerodynamic sorry its for flamers and chicks ONLY.

Now that I have ranted on the stupidity of you trying to compare a 3g to the awesomeness of a GSX. I bid you good day.
